  • Summer storm in Manarola

A quick summer storm rolling over Manarola, Cinque Terre

One of the best things that can happen on a hot summer day (well at least for photography) is a quick storm suddenly rolling over you, leaving everyone and everything drenched and refreshed. When this happened at one of the most beautiful coastal towns in the world, I knew it was my lucky day and I quickly had to take a photo of this classic view of Manarola.

Just a few minutes after taking the previous shot, I had to rush before the clouds moved away, and they moved very fast.

As sudden as this storm arrived, it left, and the day was sunny again and we were having drinks at Nessun Dorma

    Post processing

This photo is a single frame, underexposed to preserve the highlights. Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop:

    – Lightroom: balanced the exposure: lifted the shadows and controlled the highlights; adjusted the white balance. – Photoshop: brought back the colors, added some dynamic contrast and selective dodging and burning.
